This is about the brushes made in Kumano
The brushes made in Kumano are called "Kumano fude".
("Kumano" is the name of the town in Hiroshima prefecture(Japan) and "Fude" means brushes in Japanese.)
"Kumano fude" has been made since the end of Edo period, and it's designated as Japanese traditional handiwork.
The production of "Kumano fude" contributes the 80% of the domestic brush industry in Japan.
Especially, cosmetic brushes made in Kumano are produced by using technique of "Menso fude".
("Menso fude" means the brush for putting makeup on the detail parts of the face.)
In addition, Kumano cosmetic brushes are made by using the hairs of natural animals. The tips of these materials are not cut at all.
That is the reason why the bristles of cosmetic brushes made in Kumano are soft and we feel comfortable
when we use them.
